Paint Correction

What is Paint Correction?

Paint Correction is the removal of defects that are present on your paint to restore it to a new, or even better than new state. This includes swirl marks, surface scratches, RIDS (random isolated deep scratches), holograms, oxidation, marring, water spots, and bird drop etching. Most commonly, these defects occur from automated car washes or improper washing techniques, but can range from many other causes from finger nails to key scratches.

It is very common to see detail shops use products known as “fillers,” which are temporarily filling the scratch, but not truly removing them. If you have ever wondered why the vehicle looked in poor condition after a few washes, you will know that it was a quick cover up job. The only real, true way to remove these defects is the process of paint correction.

Some common defects illustrated to show what it looks like in your clear coat, which can then be leveled down to a smooth, clear surface.
Do I need Paint Correction?

One of the most important features in keeping your vehicle clean is the ability of the protective layer to release water.  Finest features a low sliding angle which allows water drops to release easily causing an extreme lotus affect.

Have you ever looked at your paint in the sun and noticed scratches that appear almost like a spider web? Contrary to what many may have been told or known to be proper technique, this is caused by circular motion washing or waxing and either the improper material or one with contaminants on it. Many other things can be the culprit of the types of defects listed above, but these are known to be the most common.

Here we have a before and after photo of the same area. Note the defects have been removed and the level of clarity restored.
Here are a few 50/50 shots to show one side corrected and one side not corrected.
This gives you a great view of the difference that correction can make as these are common defects from improper maintenance.
Even brand new cars like this Ferrari 458 come with defects straight from the factory and sometimes at the port in transportation.
The real test to properly corrected paint shines in the sun. Here you can see just how sharp and clear the paint is which looks unreal in the element of sun.
